I'm thinking of using the steam api to build a data engineering project for my portfolio. It would require me to use dbt, airflow, and PostgreSQL to find insights into what people are buying, how they're reviewing and what they're wishlisting. I thought it might combine my love of game development with an analytics project that would have to do real-time analytics. More to come on that front. I would have to stand up my own infrastructure in the cloud.
